Little Ben is finally all better...for now! I have been a little lazy with the blogging lately, and either napped or gone to bed early instead of filling you all in with our exciting lives. Plus, I did my usual 4 days in a row at work.
Here is what has been going on:
This past Sunday we gained a new daughter, "Sister Cait" moved in with us! She is finishing up her LAST CLINICAL!, for physical therapy school...then she will be know as "Doctor Sisiter Cait" to WeeBen. So she is living with us for 2-ish months -or as long as she wants to- since her clinical is here in Lexington and while Will (her husband) is in Iraq.
Since Saturday we have been trying to train WeeBen to cry himself back to sleep when he wakes up at 3 in the morning...we think it is working because he slept through the night last night!!! Holy moly, we thought that would never happen! When he wakes up, first we check on him, make sure all of extremities are OK-since he usually ends up with at least 2 at the same time out of the crib, then we leave him : ( The first night he cried/whined for about 7 mins then fell back to sleep. The next night he straight cried for approx. 14 mins then fell back to sleep...let me tell you, it is not easy! Ask Ben who was crying harder; the baby or myself! It is just so sad to wonder what he is probably thinking...where are my parents? did they abandon me? do they not love me? why are they not coming anymore? So sad, so sad! Then the next night he cried/whined for 20 mins and we gave in and got him and fed him a bottle. But then last night he slept through the night..so we will see!
Yesterday (Wednesday 11), I was finally off and got to enjoy the day with the little guy and let me tell you what he did...Cait has a half day on Wednesday's so we were chatting in the kitchen while I was making my lunch. Cait is sitting with her back to the stairs and living room and I am facing everything "watching" WeeBen. Cait notices him at the bottom if the stairs and asks "can't he climb stairs now?" and I'm like ya, pretty much sort of, don't worry, I'm watching him, thanks..." So, I carry on talking and I'm not kidding you, not even a minute later I hear Ben start to babble, but with a more excited tone like "hey, look at what I am doing, cool!" so I look up and he is half way up the freaking stairs...crap! He sooo could have fallen at any point and I was not even paying attention. Soooo, I guess I'm off to Target to now get a gait for the bottom too! Because once he finds something he likes, you cannot keep him away from it. Like the trash can in the kitchen, the toilet down stairs, the fireplace, the toilet upstairs, the computer printer....what about all his toys??
WeeBen also had his 9 month well baby visit (nice that he was finally well). He is doing everything he is supposed be doing and the doctor said that he should soon be mimicking what we say and pointing to things, otherwise he is patti-caking, waving, picking up food and eating it, peek-a-booing, drinking from cups and straws-although he does prefer to bang and play with those objects- and he has been going from standing to sitting for a long time, it took him only 2 weeks to figure it out once he started standing-which I read is usually pretty hard for them to figure out. Oh, and Ben (daddy) figured out that when you open your mouth he will put his toy in it! Pretty cute.
About the rest of his visit: so, you all know he has been a sick little wee guy and not eating well the past 2 months due to getting his top teeth, the strep throat, and then the RSV. So he has fallen off his nice little growth curve in the weight category. He only gained 1 lb 16 oz in the past 3 months totalling in at a whopping 18.6 lbs only the 25th percentile. He was in the 50th. So the doctor wants to see him back in a month just to make sure he has started to gain his weight back. Little skinny rascal! I'm going to have to post a naked "then and now" picture of him because there is a big difference. His head is 47 cm, still up there in the 90th percentile (darn that head), and his height is 28 3/4, 55th percentile. He actually grew 2 1/4 inches in the past 3 months!
Here are some pictures: (I don't think I am going to use shutterfly as much because we use Verizon for internet and last month I went over our megabyte usage...and you know how they love to charge you!)
